Cha no ka

- 茶の香 -

"Cha no Ka" is a term coined by Asami, meaning "the scent of tea."

The series began after a Chinese tea tasting with a friend, where Asami sampled teas made from an Osmanthus tree grown for a hundred years in a village known for its clean air and unspoiled land. Each tea carried its own distinct character — one, in particular, held a sweetness she likened to a blend of peach and mango. The tea shop's owner spoke not only of flavour, but of the land and history behind each leaf.

That afternoon inspired this collection of seven paintings, centred on the theme of tea. In an age of information overload, Asami believes it is essential to slow down and quiet the mind. Through brushstrokes layered with embroidery, Cha no Ka seeks to hold onto the same sense of serenity she felt while sipping a cup of aromatic tea.
